It is also prudent to inform you that, this book is a different setting too, with new more interesting characters. Of course, having just finished it, I perhaps have less objectivity than I should, given my current overjoyed, amazed state, but still. Book two, Aunt Dimity and the Duke, does not have Lori in it the only one that doesn'tbut is a necessity to introduce other characters that will be in Lori's life in the following books. This is a literary romance or some such thing, if it must be classified. Her advice to other writers is to let their creative freedom rise as high as possible and not allow anyone try to suppress it. Aunt Dimity is dead but communicates to Lori directly from the spirit world via a writing journal which is blue in color and has a leather cover.

That all ends happily comes as a surprise to none but Lori. Atherton keeps things light to the point of quaint, and for a book published nearly thirty years ago, this remarkably keeps it feeling fresh. When beginning to read this book I had a lot of expectations but as I can to wake up to reality, I realized that this was not only a total waste of time to read but it was nauseatingly deficient of suspense —Which for you information, is my major problem with this book! It also gives time for all of the quirky characters that surround her to fully evolve into the tight community that will obviously propel the story in future installments.

To view this as a mystery novel is to miss the plot of the novel entirely. Even flowers and gardens are in this book for this particular series. As a child, she was an avid reader and read almost anything she could get her hands on. Aunt Dimity is famous for being a romantic ghost often solving romantic mysteries.
